Tickets available for the 15th annual WAEF Sprayer Raffle

The Washington Apple Education Foundation is now selling $25 raffle tickets for a chance to win a 2009 Rears Manufacturing Powerblast Sprayer valued at $18,000 to benefit the foundation’s charitable programs.
The raffle will take place at the Washington State Horticultural Association annual meeting in December at the Wenatchee Convention Center. The winning ticket holder will be announced during the WSHA Industry Awards Banquet on Dec. 8. Ticket holders need not be present to win.
This is the 15th year the WAEF has conducted the fundraising raffle which funds educational opportunities for children and families from Washington’s tree fruit growing communities.
In 2009 more than $350,000 in scholarships was awarded to exceptional college-bound students. An additional $28,000 was granted to school and community programs assisting farmworker families succeed scholastically. The annual raffle and silent auction held at the WSHA Annual Meeting is a primary fundraiser of the WAEF.
Raffle tickets can be purchased in advance by visiting the foundation’s Web site at www.waef.org. Tickets can also be purchased by calling the foundation office at 663-7713, or at the foundation booth at the Wenatchee Convention Center on Dec. 7 and 8.
The raffle prize, a Rears Manufacturing 2009 Powerblast Sprayer, has been donated by the Rear family of Oregon.
The Washington Apple Education Foundation was organized in 1994 by industry members to coordinate, promote and develop charitable activities reflecting the values of industry members. The foundation’s primary programs are scholarships and educational grants benefiting those raised in tree fruit districts.
