Performing Arts Center of Wenatchee begins search for new executive director

WENATCHEE — The search is now officially underway to find the new executive director of the Performing Arts Center of Wenatchee, a little more than two weeks after Sara Cornell announced decision to resign, effective March 31.

Rather than beginning an immediate search, the PAC board of directors, led by President Anne White, opted to first undergo a process of organizational evaluation. Gaining input from Cornell, current staff and volunteers, feedback was used to determine specific qualities and skill sets desired in their next director.

“The process has been a healthy one, providing strategy and clarity in our next steps forward,” White said. “You couldn’t ask for a better group, firmly committed to a successful succession.”

Throughout the process, emphasis was placed on the need for growth in the areas of fundraising and development. Additionally, feedback suggested the ideal candidate will continue to develop the strong sense of teamwork that currently permeates the work environment.

“Recognizing the PAC was a $7.5 million construction project back in the 1990s, it follows that it is not cheap to operate and maintain,” White said. “In the last decade we’ve done well to increase income to keep up with expenses and community expectations for the venue.  But, it remains true today that over 60 percent of our income is contributed — donations.  Going forward, fundraising and development are paramount to sustainability.”

Applications are now being accepted per the instructions online. The review process will begin no later than Feb. 22, but applications may be accepted until the position is filled, at the discretion of the PAC.
