Brenda Abney, director of the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center, accepted the Washington Art Education Association’s 2009 Distinguished Service Award in Tacoma on Oct. 9.
Abney and the museum staff were nominated by Wenatchee High School art instructor Don Collins for the prestigious award.
In his nomination letter Collins praised museum staff members for continuing “to demonstrate a vibrant enthusiasm for the visual arts in ways that reach far beyond the museum walls,” specifically through showcasing the work of art students in the annual Regional High School Art Show and being a partner in the Wenatchee Art Education Consortium.
