Chuck Mayhew, an engineer with the city of Wenatchee, has plans to bring a taste of San Francisco to the Valley.
He will open a new sandwich shop, the San Francisco Sourdough Eatery, in the Harle Center on April 1. The restaurant will occupy the former Cloud Nine space at 1250 N. Wenatchee Avenue, Suite A.
Before it opens, Mayhew has an $80,000 remodel to complete, not including equipment.
The San Francisco Sourdough Eatery is a franchise based in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Mayhew’s franchise is the company’s eighth store.
Mayhew said the construction should be done March 12. That will give him two weeks for training and practice before the restaurant officially opens, about three weeks before the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival.
Mayhew said he ate at one of the Coeur d’Alene restaurants years ago, and again last spring, and that solidified his interest.
The chain serves sandwiches on fresh baked sourdough bread, salads and soups in sourdough bread bowls.
“Boy are they tasty,” Mayhew said. “I can’t wait. I promised my wife I’ll try not to eat all the profits.”
Mayhew said the restaurant’s hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a focus on the lunch crowd and delivering catered lunches to local businesses.
He plans to hire a staff of 8 or 9.
