Charged up for 2012
Charged up for 2012
Wenatchee Mayor Dennis Johnson gets some help cutting the ribbon on the city's new electric vehicle charging stations in the Wenatchee Convention Center parking lot on Dec. 21. His helpers are Wenatchee City Councilwoman Karen Rutherford, one of five owners of Nissan Leafs in the valley, pictured at left, and Public Works Operations Director Dan Frazier, at right. The city purchased two charging stations, at $2,200 each. The refueling will be free to customers. East Wenatchee resident John Sweeney, who purchased his Nissan Leaf in May, allowed his car to be used as the demo for the ceremony. He said it costs about $4.50 to "fill her up" at his charging station. The city's EV stations should be wired and ready for charging by early January.
